Dear Friend of Life:

As 2016 comes to a close, I reflect on our pro-life efforts and look ahead to a particularly important year for the pro-life movement. We must continue the educational work that saves lives. We look to you to provide the support that allows us to do this important work.

This year, West Virginians for Life had a very successful year educating West Virginians about the humanity of the unborn child. Our bill, the Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act, was passed with bipartisan majorities in both houses of the state legislature. This bill provided an opportunity to educate the public and the legislature that abortion is legal until birth and that, by at least 20 weeks in the womb, the baby feels pain.

The speaker for our 18th Annual Rose Dinner was Jewels Green, a former abortion clinic worker turned pro-life advocate, who talked about the horrors of actually doing abortions. We were honored to have Nailah Winkfield as the keynote speaker at our WVFL State Convention. She talked about her fight to keep her daughter alive following complications from surgery. These speakers support the culture of life and their pro-life message of hope is at the heart of our educational message and that of this Holy Season of Christmas.

This year’s Teens for Life Essay Contest attracted nearly 110 essays. We are proud to be able to help to educate our young people about the importance of the culture of life. You, our friends and contributors, have made it possible for West Virginians for Life to be an active force in educating here in West Virginia.

You are my heroes. We continue to persevere as a movement because of your passion and compassion for the most vulnerable among us. The elections this year have reinforced the voices for life in our state legislature, and we look forward to increasing our pro-life work in the up-coming legislative session.

I pray you and yours will be blessed during this Holy Season and in the coming New Year.

Sincerely,

Wanda Franz, Ph.D.
