MOLLOHAN AND RAHALL JOIN HOUSE DEMOCRATS TO PASS OBAMA-BACKED HEALTH CARE BILL (WVFL Response)
The U.S. House of Representatives late Sunday gave final approval to a massive
health care restructuring bill strongly opposed by West Virginians for Life.
The House vote was 219 to 212 in favor of the bill. All 219 votes in favor were
cast by Democrats. Of the opposing (pro-life) votes, 178 were cast by Republicans
and 34 by Democrats. Because the Senate already approved the bill on December 24, 2009,
it will now go straight to President Obama for his signature. Click here to read
the entire press release.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nv.) has rejected the bipartisan
Stupak-Pitts Amendment and has substituted completely unacceptable language
that would result in coverage of abortion on demand in two big new federal
government programs. Click here to read the entire NRLC press release.

FactCheck.org Says NRLC Correct on Abortion in Obama Health Bill
In recent weeks, NRLC has seen a wave of "factcheck" commentaries in various mainstream
news media, denying that the health bills being advanced by President Obama and top
Democratic congressional leaders would result in government funding of abortion. Some
of these articles assert that government funding of abortion would be prevented by a federal
law called the "Hyde Amendment," some assert that it would be prevented by an amendment
adopted in a House committee called the Capps Amendment, and some assert that President
Obama himself has said that he agrees with a "tradition" that the government should not
fund abortions. Regrettably, all three of those assertions are demonstrably false.

Congress to vote on biggest expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade !
The Obama Administration, working with powerful Democratic leaders in Congress, is trying to smuggle into federal law sweeping expansions of access to abortion on demand, including federal funding of abortion, through "health care reform" legislation. The White House and congressional Democratic leaders are pushing for quick votes on these bills. If enacted in their current form, these bills would result in the greatest expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade. To read a summary of the current legislative situation and to learn what you can do to help, click here.
National Right to Life Fact Sheet on the U.S. House "Health Care Reform" bill (H.R. 3200) The health care restructuring bill pending in the U .S. House of Representatives, backed by the Obama White House and titled "America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009" (H.R. 3200), contains provisions that will result in federally mandated coverage of abortion on demand in virtually all of America's health plans. Once abortion is established as a federal "essential benefit," the bill will also require "access" to elective abortion, which will require many issuers to establish and staff new abortion-providing sites. Moreover, state laws that impede "access" to elective abortion (such as waiting periods and parental notification requirements) may be nullified as conflicting with the purposes of the federal law .In addition, the bill will result in the massive subsidization of elective abortion with tax dollars.Click here to download the entire fact sheet.
Anti-Rationing Amendment to Health Care Bill Defeated
WASHINGTON- The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions
Committee today defeated on a party-line vote an amendment
offered by Senator Michael Enzi of Wyoming, the ranking Republican member to
the pending health care restructuring bill that would have prevented the use
of "comparative effectiveness" research methodologies as a basis for denial
of benefits to patients against their will based on their age, expected length
of life, or of the patient’s present
or predicted disability or quality of life. Click

Download Petition to Stop the Obama Abortion Agenda
To All U.S. Senators and U.S. House
Members: We urge you to reject
Barack Obama’s radical abortion agenda. Barack Obama and his allies in the
pro-abortion Democratic leadership in Congress are taking aim at unborn children
and their mothers with a radical pro-abortion agenda, including: requiring taxpayers
to fund abortion for any reason, forcing hospitals and health care professionals
to provide abortions, funding organizations that perform and promote abortions,
forcing employer health insurance plans to cover abortion, enacting a bill
(the "Freedom of Choice Act") that would invalidate virtually all state and federal
laws limiting abortion, including parental notification laws, and make partial-birth
abortion legal again. Click here to download the letter size petition or click here to

Behind Obama's Decision to Require The Killing of Human Embryos
"Regarding Obama's instructions to NIH to develop
'strict guidelines' to govern embryonic stem cell research, National Right to Life
Committee Legislative Director Douglas Johnson commented, 'These so-called ethical
safeguards are really merely procedural requirements, an attempt to cloak the fundamentally
unethical act of sacrificing living members of our species, homo sapiens, in order to
provide raw material for research.' Click here to read more.

From coast to coast, pro-lifers are marking the 36th anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Clinton Era Memo Reveals Abortionists' Extreme Eugenics Agenda
The recent release of appalling evidence that pro-abortion leaders want the unborn
babies of poor women killed has sent shockwaves through the media and the general
public. In a letter to Bill Clinton in 1993, Ron Weddington, co-counsel in the
Roe v. Wade case that legalized abortion on demand in the United States, strongly
urged the soon-to-be U.S. president to do everything he could to abort the unborn
babies of the poor. He laid the foundational arguments for Pres. Clinton’s
crusade to expand the methods and use of abortion, now disproportionately performed
on poor and minority women. To see a copy of the letter, click

Shocking Tape Reveals Abuses at WV Planned Parenthood
West Virginians for Life has obtained an audio recording of a call made
to the Planned Parenthood clinic near Parkersburg. In the audio, the
female caller represents herself as a 13 year-old girl who was impregnated
by a 22 year-old man. The call revealed possible violations of West Virginia
law. Most shocking however, is the lack of action on the part of Planned
Parenthood to intervene in an illegal and abusive relationship.
