A Message From WVFL President,
Karen Cross

Dear Friends of the Unborn,

The year continues to be challenging, yet rewarding!

The bill signing for the Ultrasound Option bill was held in the governor’s conference room on May 17. The lead sponsors: Senator Jeff Kessler and Delegate Peggy Smith and several delegates joined us as we watched Governor Manchin sign the bill. It was a glorious day! The Ultrasound Option law went into effect June 11. This means women and girls seeking abortions will be told they can "view or decline to view" the ultrasound being done prior to the abortion procedure. Formerly, the abortionists refused to allow them to see the ultrasound, even if they asked. When they see a tiny baby with fingers and toes, maybe even sucking his or her thumb, they are much more likely to change their minds.

You can see an article and photo of the bill signing at www.nrlc.org in their Today’s News and Views section or on Facebook on the WV Votes Pro-Life page.

Thank you for your support that allows us to make a difference and save lives!

Also in May, fourteen term Congressman Mollohan lost his primary election to pro-life Senator Mike Oliverio in West Virginia’s first congressional district. The Republicans who won in the first and third congressional districts (David McKinley and Spike Maynard) are also pro-life. These races were important because of the pro-abortion and rationing effects of the health care legislation recently passed in Congress. Congressmen Mollohan and Nick Rahall both voted for Obama’s health care legislation, which will provide federal funding for insurance plans that cover abortion on demand. It also contains provisions that will result in large-scale rationing of lifesaving medical treatments.

If you need information, or if we can help you in any way, be sure to contact us.

God Bless,

Karen Cross, President
