Annual Teen Day Camp
The annual Teen Day Camp takes place in conjunction with the WVFL State Convention, an event that traditionally has taken place in October. In general, the event educates the general public and WVFL chapter members on timely pro-life issues. Highly recommended, it is re-energizing for those who work actively in the movement year-round.
The Teen Day Camp brings teens together annually to have some fun with ice-breaker games, yes, but more importantly, to learn about pro-life issues. There is a When They Say…You Say presentation. A young legislator or two (much closer to their age) addresses them. Teens hear a real-life testimony from a woman who had an abortion in From Tears to Triumph: My Journey in the Pro-Life Movement. The keynote speaker for the State Convention speaks to them briefly and does a Q&A. So, though parts of the day are spent with the adults in the main fellowship hall (including lunch), the teens have a separate space.
Winning pro-life poster honors in the 2020 Teen Day Camp went to Cecilia Shields and McKenzie Underwood.
It’s always good to see teens participating in the annual Monongalia County Walk-for-Life held every April.

President of WV Teens for Life
“If you have any upcoming Right to Life events, I strongly urge you to attend and invite others to the special event. There is strength in numbers and pro-life enthusiasm is contagious. Young and old alike should know how very special every human life is. It is incredibly important to show our support.”
Dear Teens for Life,
It’s hard to believe that Christmas has come this quickly. Even a pandemic cannot keep it from happening.
I heard great things about the State Convention even though I was unable to attend. There was a poster contest plus great speakers including the keynote speaker Rebekah Hagan, Karen Cross from National Right to Life, House of Delegates candidate Riley Keaton (now Delegate-elect Keaton), and the Day Camp Leader Sadie Shields.
The 48th Annual March for Life will take place January 29th in Washington, D.C. I hope you can get there by car, since West Virginians for Life did not charter a bus or set up a meeting with federal legislators due to Covid. I won’t be seeing my fellow teens at Pro-Life Rally Day in March either, now that Covid has cancelled even that.
As always, be sure to get involved in your local community or parish. We all can have an effect on saving lives. Enjoy the holidays!
Your WV Teens for life President,
Margaret Deely
